> Dear Queen (09.05.2008)

Dear Elizabeth Windsor, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as overseas territories.

It has come to my attention that in the colony of Gibraltar they drive their automobiles on the right hand side of the road. As you may be aware this is the wrong side (no matter what the word ‘right’ may indicate).

Please either force this territory to change to the left hand side of the road (the correct side) or give them back to Spain as punishment.

Thank you,
Hugh

PS: Abdicate and give your son a go. He’s not getting any younger you know.

Yeah, never mind Canada. Or most places in the commonwealth for that matter. But seriously, send Gibraltar back. No one likes them anyway.

  • Well Gibraltar isn’t in the Commonwealth, it is still governed by us! ;-) Actually it wouldn’t be good if Gibraltar was given back to Spain as I would have no hot place close to Africa to retire to and not have to learn a new language! :-)

  • Do we need to get into that sack of worms again?

Nevermind the geopolitical implications of handing Gibraltar back to the Spanish (perfect precedent would be Hongkong/China), but the issue of which side of the road cars should drive on has clearly only one solution.

While most the Queen’s lands and a few other misguided places on Earth are preposterously forcing people to drive on the wrong (left) side of the road, the remaining huge majority of countries are sanely driving on the right (right) side.

Regarding the Queen and her son, do we really want a King who is married to a horse?

  • You may also be interested to know that the Queen’s title is actually:

“Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith”
    :-)

Took a bit of work to find that, so you better appreciate the public service I provide in educating your readers.

The left side is the “right” side, let me think, when only 10% of the world drive of the left… then we, the other 90% are wrong… get a grip.
