2007 for me personally has been the year where Linux on the Desktop became a reality but before I get into this check out the videos from my new years party. It turned out to be quite a good start to the year!

This desktop is running on Ubuntu 7.10 and is using Compiz Fusion with the Avant Windows Navigator (the bottom dock) and Screelets.

Hot on the heals of Dell offering my OS of choice, Ubuntu. Tesco, the number one supermarket in the UK has started shipping PCs with Ubuntu pre-installed. It’s a shame it is not the very latest version but it’s a start! Check out the link below.

Almost six months ago I installed Linux to test it. I first tried openSuse but wasn’t that impressed. I thought I’d check out the market leader at the time: Ubuntu. I decided to upgrade and although I first thought there was a major problem, it turned out the network I was using was playing up.
So far I’m liking the new Ubuntu. The Compiz works fine with just a couple of minor issues. For example the bottom toolbar doesn’t appear until I click on the desktop. [...]

I’m toying with the idea of upgrading to Ubuntu 7.10 Beta. In just a month the full version will be released but I’m impatient!
So should I stay or should I go? (Should I stay at 7.04 or upgrade to 7.10 Beta?)
